Biography - Sonja Tran (née Joan Pither)

2005

-With composer/arranger/saxophonist Bob Brough, Sonja published her first CD of lyrics 'Like A Spring Day,' performed by The Bob Brough Quartet and sung by vocalist Carol M cCartney.
-Wrote lyrics for Bob Brough tunes, 'Somewhere On A Sunny Afternoon' and 'The Afterburn Of Love' (both lyrics are unpublished.)

2003-2004

-Wrote the CD's lyrics to Bob Brough tunes, 'Like A Spring Day', 'I Know Love Must Be Near', 'A View Painted Citron and Blue', 'Daisy', 'Paradise Is Good Enough For Me', 'Only Summer Knows', 'There's A Place In My Heart', 'Today', and 'When The Atmosphere's Right.'
-Wrote lyrics for pianist/composer/arranger Stan Fomin tunes, 'Look Away Now', 'Remember Rio', and 'All Ways Lovely' (the 3 lyrics are unpublished.)

1995 to mid-1998

-Did a series of telephone consultations and tutoring sessions with New York author Sheila Davis (The Craft of Lyric Writing, The Songwriter's Idea Book, and Successful Lyric Writing.) After the phone sessions with Sheila, Sonja did several more years of personal study and writing before finally being able to produce lyrics that worked to her own satisfaction from beginning to end.

Prior to taking up the study of lyric writing

-Psychotherapist for a decade, head nurse for the decade prior, and a Reg. Nurse from 1959.

Born in 1938

-in Timmins Ontario and raised on a small farm in Central Ontario, Canada.
